Hotels: West End Best Friends

Posted by admin on Jun-7-2012

Here we take a look at some of the fanciest hotels in the fanciest part of the capital…

London has been one of the most consistently visited cities in the world for decades, if not centuries. It attracts tourists from all over the world, most of who are seeking a mixture of history, culture, theatre and shopping. Especially sought-after is the city’s west end – if you can afford it, that is. Companies like Millennium Hotels offer exclusive accommodation in some of the capital’s most moneyed areas (see their section on ‘hotels near Albert Hall’ for booking information).

Among Millennium’s highlights is the Bailey’s Hotel in Kensington. A beautifully-restored Victorian townhouse, Bailey’s retains many original period features, like the sweeping central staircase and decorous hearths. It also happens to be located in the heart of the west end, opposite Gloucester Road tube, and a short walk from both the V & A and the Royal Albert Hall. Anyone coming to London to explore the museums of Kensington, take in a classical concert and stay in a bit of luxury should seriously consider Bailey’s as an option.

A little further on up the road is the Millennium Hotel in Knightsbridge. An excellent 4 star hotel, Millennium’s Knightsbridge outpost is situated in the heart of Sloan Street’s shopping district. It’s not for those on a budget – but then neither is the west end as a whole.

Further west still is the Millennium in Mayfair. Located in Grosvenor Square, it’s among London’s most elegant and luxurious hotels. An 18th Century mansion has been transformed into something very special indeed. The hotel is within walking distance of Bond Street and Regent Street, with Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens just around the corner.

Nestling in the heart London’s most exclusive area, within spitting distance of the famous King’s Road, is Copthorne’s Chelsea Football Club Hotel. A stylishly appointed hotel, the Copthorne boasts 281 rooms, and one of London’s finest dining experiences in Marco, establishment of the legendary Michelin-starred chef Marco Pierre White. Book one of their suites and you gain exclusive access to the Club Lounge, where you can relax with a drink and a few appetizers whilst catching up on the papers or using the free Wi-Fi.

Millennium Hotels offer some of London’s most exclusive hotels, and with discounts available via Millenium.co.uk, you can make a few savings on a short trip to London’s west end.
